Dominica: The Dominica Labour Party is celebrating 70 years of service to the people of Dominica. The political party came into existence on May 24, 1955. The leaders of the political party have shared that the seventy-year celebration will take place over the course of the upcoming weeks.
On June 1, the Dominica Labour Party will come together and celebrate with a rally which will start at the Dublanc Playing Field. The rally will start at approximately 3 PM on Sunday.
The rally will be attended by all the members affiliated with the Dominica Labour Party. The officials have shared that the leader of the Barbados Labour Party and Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, will be one of the featured speakers at the event.
The Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit will also address the people of the island. The rally will help assert the strength of the labour movement, which has been serving several nations of the Caribbean for several decades.
The members of the community can also be part of the Dominica Labour Party Rally and celebrate 70 years of service and existence. The political party has been celebrating the seven decade milestone with several events. During the previous week, the leadership and high level members of the political party came together to celebrate the seven decade mark.
Four years after Dominica achieved Universal Suffrage in 1951, the Dominica Labour Party began with the aim of serving the people. The officials have shared that the Dominica Labour party was born out of a trade union like many of its counterparts in the Caribbean.
The Party, which sought to represent, serve and support the working class of Dominica is one of the most successful political parties in the region. It is also among the longest running political parties in the region and has served in the leadership of Dominica for nearly twenty five years.
