Botswana: The government of Botswana is dedicated to promoting and developing the agriculture sector of the country. The Minister of Agriculture Fidelis Law has been dedicated to the cause and has started her efforts in the direction by visiting the Tonota based communities.

Shashe West County Senator and Minister of Agriculture, Fidelis Law, started a tour last week to visit the various Kgotla communities across the Tonota region. The aim of the visit was and its aim of improving the agricultural landscape.

The Honorable Law said the agriculture asset is a newly established program that addresses the needs of farmers in a variety of ways.

Agriculture is one of the major sectors of Botswana’s economy and would greatly benefit from the developmental initiative. The District Council of Tonota has welcomed the Minister of Agriculture for the beginning of her agriculture asset programme.

Minister Law said that the programme is aimed to encourage farmers of the region to change the way they farm. The minister called on the stakeholders of the agriculture sector to improve their practice. The aim is to farm hard to produce enough food to feed their families and the world.

The minister further pointed out that agriculture asset is fully focused on agriculture, and assistance with agricultural inputs, seeds and fertilizers, loans, agricultural insurance, and the development of agricultural products encourage the use of improved climate change adaptive farming practices.

The Minister of Agriculture also encouraged farmers to work together to maximize the benefits in clusters. He asserted that they should encourage this program as it would help them to become self-sufficient in agriculture.

Finally, the Minister also encouraged farmers to contact other farmers in neighbouring areas and regions so that they can get to know each other better and take advantage of the program in their respective villages.

The administration has been delighted with the introduction of new agriculture sector policies and developments.
