South Africa: Premier Letsoha-Mathae donated groceries to 58 learners at the school in Reddersburg, Xhariep district municipality. The aim of the donation was to support the learners as theey sit for their National school Certificate examination
The Premier firmly believes tha learners should not have to worry about where their next meal is going to come from. They should give their complete focus to the preparation of their examination subjects.
The leader of the Free State administration has shared that the NSC exams are one of the most important stepping stone in a student’s career
“You are children and the last thing on your mind should be what the family will eat. That is why we decided to bring you this grocery so that there are no distractions during this time.
At the same time, the leader of the province also laid out her expectations for the students to follow. She expects the students to work hard and make their families as well as the Free State government proud.
“You have big boots to fill, but we have confidence that the class of 2004 will continue making the Free State province proud. Re tla ba pheta, re ba phete, ho fihlella ba tlwaela,” said Premier Letsoha-Mathae
The learners are presently living on a school camp facilitated by the department of education in Free State. This will ensure that students can perform at their best capacity in their National Senior Certificate examinations. The school camps will help the students focus more thoroughly on their preparations as the Province gets ready for the examination.
The Department of Education wants to ensure that the students feel supported enough to give their best in the exam halls.
The majority of the learners come from disadvantaged backgrounds therefore school camps assist them to focus on the task at hand and the Premier said these examinations offer them an opportunity to make something of their lives.
“If you are in the top 100 best performing learners, you get a fully paid bursary from government. Therefore, the ball is in your court. Good luck,” she said.
