City of Cape Town has announced the Artists for the Festive Light Switch-On. These artists will perform at the shining celebration of the ‘People of Hope’.
Famous African artists such as Morda, Mafikizolo, Ouma Sarie, Rasta Rebels and Dr. Victor. All of them are more on the line-up for 2024 grand event that will kick off the summer season with panache on Sunday, December 01, 2024.
Reportedly, this year’s Adderley Street Festive Lights Switch-On is gearing up to be an unforgettable day of music, laughter and unity under the theme ‘People of Hope.’
The City asked people to join in the fun on event day at 4:00 p.m. on the Grand Parade, where a phenomenal range of artists, entertainers and fine comedians will illuminate the stage and ignite the holiday spirit.
As per the sources, the event will feature a star-studded line-up that will include chart-toppers Mafikizolo, the soulful sounds of Fagrie Isaacs and Candice Thornton. It will also feature reggae legends Dr. Victor and the Rasta Rebels as well as the electronic beats of Morda.
Festive Lights Switch-On will be an unexpected night filled with diverse performances, from the crowd-favourite 3 Tons of Fun to Wynand and Cheree Strydom. The event will enchant harmonies of Blackbyrd and the classic moves of the Old Gentleman Dancers.
The lively concert will be comprised of fans’ favorites DJ Caycee, Carletheia, Ouma Sarie and Meneer Cee who will bring enthusiastic energy to the Grand Parade stage.
Moreover, the festivities for this year will be led by the two beloved comedic talents of South Africa ‘Alan Committie’ and ‘Lunga Tshuka’. The two will guide the evening with their humour and charm.
The performers will add up to the fun and the laughter along with the top three finalists from the new comedy competition of City of Cape Town. They will bring their best routines and will showcase a fresh comedic talent and will make the event a true celebration of local creativity.
Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis emphasised the spirit of resilience and optimism that underpins the ‘People of Hope’ who are the bedrock of the city. He said that Cape Town is a city of bright lights and even brighter people.
According to him, the Festive Lights Switch-On is a great chance for them to come together and acknowledge the year behind them and celebrate what is coming next.
Hill-Lewis added that the year is lined-up and will certainly get him into the holiday spirit, as it speaks to the joy, unity and vibrancy that make Cape Town the heart of the holiday season in South Africa.
