Nigeria: The Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, Gongola Diocese has laid the foundation of a three-classroom block at Purakayo. The organization believes that government cannot do everything that the people need for their development.
This is why LCCN took the initiative to construct the classroom block for the secondary school situated in the Guyuk Local Government Area. The school, according to the high level management of the organization caters to the needs of hundreds of students.
The foundation laying ceremony was led by Peter Bartimawus PhD, Bishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria. The organization has taken this step-in line with their commitment to improve education in Adamawa State.
The high level management of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria is delighted to assist the state in improving human resource infrastructure in the country. The three-classroom block is being constructed in the Lutheran Academy Purakayo.
The secondary school is being managed by the Gongola Diocese since 2022. The new construction will help in increasing the capacity of the school to enroll more students. The organization acknowledged the limitations of the government in providing all the necessary resources for education.
Accordingly, Bishop Peter said “Government alone can not provide all that we need especially in the education sector and that is why the church needs to come in to make effort in order to provide relief to it’s members and the broader society”.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by many important members of the government and clergymen. HRH Kwandi Nunguraya Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda, members representing Guyuk and Shelleng constituencies were in the list of attendants.
The presence of these individuals was proof of how important the educational initiative is for the people of the Local government Area.
Kwandi Nunguraya delivered a brief speech at the event highlighting the importance of the education sector. He noted that any society aspiring for development must prioritize quality education.
He further appreciated the Lutheran Academy Purakayo for constructing the classroom block. He believes that the organization can flourish and contribute to the growth and progress of Purakayo.
