South Africa: A Heroin addict was abducted by three men on Umhlanga Ridge Boulevard in Blackburn – KZN on Friday. The family of the victim have reached out to the law enforcement agencies to help find their child.

The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Kenneth Govender. RUSA has shared an image of the victim for identification. The authorities also shared that the victim’s mother contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) on Friday afternoon.

She requested assistance to locate the victim and shared some important details about him.  According to the caller, her son and a friend left her home in Blackburn – KZN to purchase alcohol from Makro at approximately 13:00.

The friend later returned and informed his mother that three (3) men in a white VW Polo (registration unknown) forced Govender into their vehicle as they neared the entrance of the superstore. The vehicle thereafter sped off in an unknown direction.

The mother of the victim has urged the authorities to expedite their investigation and find her son. The victim is a known drug user and has found himself in a similar situation previously.

His mother informed the reaction unit that Govender was previously kidnapped near Palmview – KZN. At this time,  the victim was accused of theft from the scene of a collision. He was severely beaten at a housing complex in Cornubia – KZN, before being released.

The people of KwaZulu-Natal have extended best wishes to the mother who is struggling to ensure the safety of her son. People also prayed for the victim to return unharmed. The people of the country have expressed their sympathies with the mother.

Social media user Damoyi Zindela Mandisa extended his support to the mother. He said, such is being a mom, I hope he is found unharmed and that he gets help for his addiction. Let’s not stop praying for our children because we don’t know how they’d turn out.
