Zambia: Keepers Zambia Foundation (KZF) conducted a workshop on waste management and its impact on the environment and climate change. The event was hosted in collaboration with Sesheke Town Council.

The country has been making efforts to educate the people of the various provinces regarding Climate change. The climate change is a major crisis that country as well ass the world is presently facing.

Keepers Zambia Foundation Project Officer Sibeso Munukayula said that the organization is happy to work with the local authority. They are working towards educating the stakeholders about the adverse effects of waste on the environment.

The organization claimed that through this workshop, they want to increase awareness regarding waste management. They are targetting several institutions, markets, schools, and the community within the district.

Keepers Zambia Foundation urged schools and institutions to adopt waste management practices by emphasizing waste reducti   on, reuse, and recycling.

The workshop, facilitated by Council Staff from the Public Health and Administration sections, aligns with the local authority’s mandate to maintain clean markets and municipal areas.

The workshop was attended by several students, teachers from different schools in the country. Further, other stakeholders from diverse backgrounds have also attended the event

During the workshop, they want to train the attendants in recycling and reusing waste materials. The officials received crucial training in disposing off plastic bottles, which can serve as a valuable income source.

However, the authorities have claimed that they still need to build areas  in the district to deposit waste. The designated sites established by the council to ensure Sesheke stays clean.

The cleanliness workshop aimed to encourage the youngsters of the district to understand the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygine. Further, the management of waste will also help them in combatting climate change.

The climate stakeholders of the nation have also expressed that they are happy to see Keepers Zambia Foundation taking the initiative.
