The multi-purpose disinfectant chemical used to sanitise these sites not only prevents cholera but also other diseases.

Furthermore, the Local Authority has distributed over 120 litres of chlorine to Kamwala Remand Prison to promote the habit of drinking clean water.

The council will continue with its surveillance activities to ensure people are adhering to public health guidelines to avoid all kinds of diseases, including cholera.

The exercise is part of the campaigns to educate and inform people about cholera prevention methods. Officers will keep disinfecting all the potential cholera spots, even in the compounds, until none are left.

The council wishes to urge Lusaka residents and business owners to get involved in the exercise, as the fight against cholera can only be won by everyone’s involvement.

Residents are further advised always to ensure they keep their surroundings clean if they are to live a healthy life.
