Lusaka: The Association of Ministers’ spouses in Lusaka district have donated 100 blankets to cholera centres in the capital of Zambia. The donations were made through the Lusaka District Administration.
The people of the country have been struggling with the cholera outbreak for the last four months. The administration has been working hard to protect the people from the infections.
The Ministry of Health has taken several preventive measures and steps to make sure that the outbreak does not take lives. Many respectable organizations and authorities have taken the initiative to help the administration.
The association of Ministers’ Spouses has taken the initiative to donate and help the patients. The people shared that as a part of the administration of the country, it is their responsibility to look out and assist.
Association of Ministers’ Spouses Coordinator Shezippie Nzovu says the donation is meant to help the government in addressing the fight against Cholera.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at Lusaka district administration, the coordinator, Nzovu said the outbreak of Cholera has not just affected the day-to-day lives of people in Lusaka but the country as a whole.
“As spouses of Ministers, we could not just sit back and watch the government trying its best to fight this disease, and so we came on board with the help of cooperating partners who have made it possible for us to contribute,” she explained.
Further, Nzovu thanked the Chinese Chamber of Commerce for making this donation possible.
Meanwhile, Lusaka District Commissioner Rosa Zulu, who received the donation, commended the Association, adding that the donation will help Cholera patients.
Zulu says Lusaka district remains the most hit district and needs more assistance.
“The donated blankets will be distributed to all cholera centres because we believe that any donation made will make a difference,” she said.
Zulu called on other stakeholders to come on board and donate items such as chlorine, detergent soaps, hand washing soaps, personal protective equipment for frontline health workers and many others.
