South Africa: The Reaction Unit South Africa has received the reports of a shooting incident in Trenance Park on Thursday. A man was seriously injured after a group of suspects shot at him multiple times while he was in the market.
According to the eyewitnesses of the incident, a single suspect came out of a white Toyota Etios and shot the victim on his chest. At the time, someone had dropped the victim in a red vehicle of unknown make and model.
Right before he was shot at, the victim was walking towards a tuck shop on the corner of Cottonwood Drive and Poplar Road. The members of the community who saw the incident contacted the Reaction Unit of South Africa to help them.
The officials have shared that they received the call for assistance in the late hours of the afternoon. The team was dispatched to the scene of crime at approximately 17:01 hours. Upon arrival, the team interviewed the eyewitnesses.
The members of the public informed the RUSA officers that a single suspect came out of the white vehicle and shot at the victim. The car is suspected to have been occupied by more accomplices of the suspect.
The officials have shared that the victim tried to escape the scene of the crime after he had been injured. He ran a short distance and collapsed on the road. Accordingly, he was taken to the medical facility by a private transport.
The current situation of the victim remains unclear, while the officers recovered Five (5) spent 9mm cartridges at the scene.
Meanwhile, the eyewitnesses have also shared a video for the incident which has been reshared by several media platforms. The victim has been identified as a part time E-hailing driver.
The officers have not established the reason for the shooting incident. The people of the community have shared their condolences on the death of the E-hailing driver.
Some social media users have argued that the South Africa Police Service does not have much visibility in the area.
The residents have expressed their fear in continuing to live in the region. The people think their families and children are not safe in the neighbourhood. Further, they also argued that Trenance Park is always in the news.
