Mauritius: The Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Dr Renganaden Padayachy, held Policy Dialogue meetings yesterday in Port Louis with several other Ministers of the country in the context of Budget 2023-2024.
The Mauritius Minister of National Infrastructure and Community Development, Mahendranuth Sharma Hurreeram; the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal; and the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Avinash Teeluck, thus each met Minister Padayachy to put forward their proposals in view of the forthcoming Budget.
In a statement, Minister Hurreeram commended Dr Padayachy and his team for their comprehension, support, and cooperation. According to his interview with the media that the meeting was an opportunity to present his Ministry’s strategy for the next financial year, with emphasis laid on projects aiming at proposing better infrastructure to road users.
As for Minister Jagutpal, he observed that discussions with the Finance Minister focused on measures and the necessary infrastructure so as to provide better support and treatment to the elderly as well as those suffering from cancer and non-communicable diseases.
For his part, Minister Teeluck underlined that the meeting enabled Officers of his Ministry and himself to share their vision for the financial year 2023-2024 with Dr Padayachy and take stock of what has been achieved so far.
Moreover. he also highlighted the need to provide artists with the required support and motivation so that they can work in the best conditions possible. Minister Teeluck further dwelt on the introduction of the Status of Artists Bill in the National Assembly in the near future.
Yesterday, Mauritius PM also held a meeting with Ministers in which they discussed the projects through which they can secure the life of the residents. The PM also inaugurated the Wooton National Housing Development Company (NHDC), also renewed his pledge to work for the needs and welfare of the population and live up to the trust conferred to the Government to lead the country.
