KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Education, Mbali Frazer has congratulated the newly elected members of the School Governing Bodies (SGBs) in the Ugu District. The newly elected members of the the governing bodies came together for a workshop meant for their training.
The workshop was hosted at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Complex. During the workshop, the Ugu District School Governing Bodies were given the opportunity for an engagement with MEC Frazer.

They raised various issues affecting their respecting schools and made suggestions to MEC Frazer and HOD Ngcobo. The KZN department of Education is working hard to maintain a high standard of education facilities within the province.
MEC Frazer and HOD responded to some of the challenges, but where there was no immediate response, they committed to attend to all the concerns. MEC Frazer congratulated the newly elected SGBs, she reminded them that the reason for their existence is to ensure stability in our schools.
“SGBs should never be a source of problems and divisions in our schools. You must never abuse your powers as SGBs because you will cause troubles that will take us back instead of moving forward”, said MEC Frazer.
She further emphasized that the only interest of SGBs must be the education of our learners.
The educational stakeholders appreciated the dedication of the Department of Education towards ensuring that all the schools are functioning properly and appropriately. The department has been constantly monitoring the various schools of the province, offering assistance wherever essential.
Meanwhile, the Member of the Executive Council and celebrated educator Mbali Frazer delivered a brief yet impactful address during the workshop. She encouraged the School governing bodies to embrace their duties and responsibilities for the development of the education sector of the province.
