Zimbabwe: The Miss Universe Zimbabwe sashing ceremony has come to a conclusion and has finally unveiled the top prizes, hosts and performers. Total eighteen beauties were sashed on May 14, 2024 for the 2024 title in a bootcamp at a secret location, during a ceremony held in Chishawasha Hills in Harare.
Reportedly, the Pageant contest will be held on this Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Harare Hippodrome, where reigning queen Brooke Bruk will crown her successor.
According to the organizers, this latest edition of the red-carpet show will be run under the theme “Met Gala”.
Chairperson for the Miss Universe Zimbabwe – Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga encouraged the participants to represent the country very well.
Chiwenga said, “I say congratulations to the contestants. You are all winners and beautiful. On Saturday, we will crown one winner who will represent the country and I encourage you to be brave, diligent and always have your country at heart.”
“You should have good behaviour. We are very proud of you all and don’t give up on your dreams, show who you are. We journey together and we will learn from each other,” said the Chairperson.
Considering the upcoming pageant contest, National Pageant Director – Tendai Hunda said that it is all as system goes. She added that this year’s pageant is bigger and better as the winner will walk away with a brand-new car.
Hunda said, “We have unveiled the grand prize for the winner which is a Mercedes Benz C200, 2020 model, apart from consolation prizes.”
“We have 18 girls in the bootcamp and voting for a place in top eight will continue until the day of the pageant, during the evening gown segment. The girl with the highest votes will land a place in the top eight,” said Tendai Hunda. A car was donated which was from ‘Style by Minnie’.
Hunda further added that the winner will represent Zimbabwe at the Miss Universe Pageant in Mexico. She said that competition of 2024 is very tough, “The quality of girls we received this year is amazing and there is tight competition. They are receiving their training, grooming and deportment at the boot camp and so far, we haven’t had any challenges with girls.”
Furthermore, Hunda extended her gratitude to the sponsors and said, “We want to thank the partners, including the designers whom we are working with. The girls are beautiful and the dresses are spectacular.”
The organizers said two media personalities are set to host this year’s sow, with top musicians billed to perform at the event.
The masters of ceremonies will be Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa and Samantha Mussa who is affectionately known as ‘Misred’, in the showbiz circles. Hunda also confirmed that they have guests from as far as South Africa, Nigeria and the United Kingdom among other countries.
The Red Carpet will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will continue to receive the guests till 7:00 p.m., at the Met Gala version. Everyone is excited about this phenomenon. The preliminary judging will be conducted on Friday, May 17, 2024 at a private location.
Tendai Hunda also said that there will be performances by Enzo Inshall, Tammy Moyo and ShaSha. We have learnt from the mistakes and loopholes from previous shows and this time we need to make sure we deliver people a good show.
