Mauritius: The government of Mauritius is starting the construction of the National Arts Centre. The officials have organized an official ceremony to mark the commencement of the design and construction.
The ceremony was hosted on Monday evening, at Réunion Maurel in Petit Raffray. The construction was done with an estimated cost of Rs 100 million.
The construction will unfold in two phases: The first phase, to the tune of some Rs 50 million. The National Arts Centre will feature a hall with acoustics.
The Centre will also feature multi-purpose facilities, while the second phase will include an open-air amphitheatre. The Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Avinash Teeluck was in attendance at the ceremony along with government officials.
Minister Teeluck delivered a brief address at the ceremony to begin the construction. He expressed pride in the commencement of the long-anticipated project.
He highlighted that the National Arts Centre will serve as a hub for diverse activities for all residents. He emphasised that the centre will facilitate gatherings for people from different regions and provide valuable services in art, culture, and training.
Minister Teeluck further assured that the centre will be equipped with various features, including a stage and advanced acoustics, to enhance its functionality.
Minister Teeluck said that the project is a proof of Government’s commitment to infrastructural development. The aim of the initiative was to enrich the community with its amenities. He anticipated that the National Arts Centre will complete within eight months.
He further urged the residents to foster harmony and respect in the community. He highlighted that the strength of Mauritius lies in its diverse population
Minister Ramdhany spoke about Government’s commitment to overall development across various fields in the nation. They with a focus on enhancing facilities in villages and work benefit all residents.
He also underscored the importance of social unity and harmony, affirming that Government’s initiatives are aimed at serving the interests of the population.
PPS Dhunno outlined Government’s plan to promote economic and infrastructural progress across Mauritius. He stressed that, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, considerable advancements have been made for the welfare of the population.
