Nyalenda Young Turks discusses Gender Empowerment at RLV 92.1 FM

Kisumu, Kenya: The Nyalenda Young Turks, a Community-based Organization, took part in a two-hour Radio Talk show on Radio Lake Victoria LTD at 92.1 FM today (Sunday), November 19, 2023. They engaged in various discussions on sexual gender violence in society.

The Team had the opportunity to discuss community legal and health responses towards Sexual gender-based violence.

This discussion came at a prime time when members highlighted the struggle of their community with legal & medical steps when they encounter SGBV cases in the community.

The Programme was done courtesy of Nylenda Young Turks End Sgbv initiative with their Gender Department.

The Key speakers in today’s shows were the Law Society of Kenya Kisumu chapter chairperson, Senior community focal person & SCRHC and GBV focal person- Kisumu West sub-county supported by USAID Boresha Jamii in Kisumu Kenya.

Reportedly, the Nyalemda Young Turks is a Community-based organization working towards addressing the gender-based disparities in society and promoting the development of the girl-child.

The Organisation has consistently worked towards eradicating these challenges and bringing sustainable development into the nation.

Recently, The Nyalenda Young Turks Community-Based Organization announced that it would host an event on SGBV called Kisumu County Ends SGBV Community Shield. The event will be held under the theme, “Unite, Invest to prevent violence against women and girls.” on December 7th and 8th, 2023.

During the event, The County members will have the opportunity to enjoy positive contributions & support from several partners in Kisumu & beyond. Various organizations have supported the event over the years with skills, resources, referrals & above all, morale support towards & daily activities.

The event will also include several activities, such as:-

Mental Health
SGBV Screening
SRHR Sensitization
Economic Empowerment of Wommen and Men at Risk
Tournament (Prevention Team Vs Response Team)
