Dominica: PM Roosevelt Skerrit has extended his best wishes to the teachers of Dominica as the country celebrates Teachers Appreciation Day. He took to his social media to applaud the teachers and commemorate the day on Thursday.
The celebration is an annual affair and is a part of the annual traditions of Dominica. All the schools, from the early childhood education to the tertiary level come together to celebrate the teachers.
The administration acknowledges that teachers have the most crucial role to play in shaping the future of any nation. PM Skerrit lauded the teachers across Dominica for their hardwork and dedication towards their students.
Teachers on all levels of education actively work for the benefit of their students, ensuring that they can become successful individuals. In light of the teachers’ commitment, PM Drew expressed hope that they would continue to be blessed by god.
Notably, teachers appreciation day marks the beginning of week-long festivities which will honour and applaud educators across the island. The festivities begin on Friday, with World Teachers’ Rally at Dublanc.
The rally was planned collectively by the teachers. The next event, on Saturday, when World teachers day will be celebrated all over the world. The President of Dominica, Sylvanie Burton will commemorate the international event with a national address.
The President’s address will be aired on Radio and Television sets around the island nation. The communities all over the country also organized several church services in honor of the educators.
Hosted on September 28 and September 29, under the theme ‘Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education.’, the church service brought together stakeholders from all levels of education.
The Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit shared in his social media post that the country is grateful for the teachers’ patience, care and steadfast commitment to nurturing the children of Dominica.
Another heartwarming gesture done by students was to create social media short videos to hype their teachers on Tiktok and facebook. They came up with several creative poems and blog writeups to appreciate their teachers.
