Dominca: The Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of China, Chu Maoming. The ambassador met Prime Minister Skerrit on Friday after presenting his credentials to President Sylvanie Burton.

The ambassador arrived in Dominica to assume office as the seventh ambassador of the China to the Commonwealth of Dominica in April 2024. The arrival of the Ambassador coincided with the celebration of 20 years of establishing diplomatic relations with each other.

The Prime Minister shared that he was honoured to welcome the Ambassador of the Republic of China to his office for a brief meeting. During his interaction with the Ambassador, PM Skerrit assured that his government will support him in his duties.

He hoped for a long and fruitful working relationship with the Ambassador. During his meeting, PM Skerrit highlighted the strength of Dominica-China diplomatic ties. He also expressed his most sincere gratitude to China for their invaluable support in developmental initatives.

China is one of the biggest supporters of the commonwealth of Dominica and has supported them in several developmental initiatives. The country has been an invaluable partner in the infrastructural growth of the nation.

In line with this, PM Skerrit renewed his commitment to work closely with the country in future development avenues. The two nations have been invaluable international partners for over two decades.

The partnership has yielded infrastructural development in several sectors of the Commonwealth of Dominica. The Prime Minister shared the glimpses from the meeting on his social media.

The meeting was also attended by high level members of the country’s government. Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Melissa Skerrit also attended the meeting and reiterated the commitment to continue cooperations between the two nations.

The people of the country also welcomed the new Ambassador warmly and extended their support to the ambassador as he continues his work in the country. The people also appreciated the Prime Minister for constantly engaging international partners for the betterment of the country and people.
