South Africa: Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae attended the Department of Education Xhariep district well done function. The event was hosted at Thabo Vuyo Secondary School, Rouxville on Sunday, March 2.
Xhariep was one of the four districts in Free state which has performed extremely well in the examinations in terms of academic performance. The officials have shared that the district has secured the third place nationally. Inside the school hall, attendees looked glamorous in black and red, the theme for the function.
The Provincial government of Free State claimed that the decoration at the venue were impressive. There were many red and black balloons placed at the entrance. The same applied with the stage, which was also draped in black and red cloths.
Premier Letsoha-Mathae extended her gratitude to the teachers for their work. She also encouraged them to continue being of service to the nation with their dedicated work
“As teachers, you played a pivotal role in the development of our children. In the absence of the parents of learners, you filled that void.
The Premier acknowledged that these teachers were even distant from their own children during a crucial time during their examinations. The teachers have worked hard to ensure that the students in Xhariep can perform well.
I would like to thank you for what you have done for our province,” said Premier Letsoha-Mathae.
The Premier said that for the future, the province has plans to build more school hostels to make it easy for children in far flung places. Furthermore, Premier Letsoha-Mathae warned that government will be taking actions against contractors who fail to complete projects.
“Our learners wake up very early in the morning and walk long distances to school and by the time they arrive, they are tired.
Therefore, school hostels will greatly assist us. However, what we are not going to accept is a contractor who builds a school for seven years. We have one such case, and this administration will not allow that,” Premier Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae said.
Teachers present at the event also thanked Premier Letsoha-Mathae for gracing the event.
