President Kiir discusses security situation in three States and Administrative Area

South Sudan, JUBA- President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday met a delegation of members from the Council of States led by Deng Deng Akoon, Speaker of the House, to discuss the security and political situation in Warrap, Unity, Western Equatoria States and Abyei Administrative Area.

South Sudan, JUBA- President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday met a delegation of members from the Council of States led by Deng Deng Akoon, Speaker of the House, to discuss the security and political situation in Warrap, Unity, Western Equatoria States and Abyei Administrative Area.

Honourable Speaker of the Council of State said they had formed a fact-finding Committee to visit Warrap, Unity, Western Equatoria States and Abyei Administrative Area regarding the issues that are facing them and find amicable solutions.

The Minister of Presidential Affairs Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, urged the States governments and administrative areas to cooperate with the Council of States.


 

 


On a similar day, President Kiir met with the Ugandan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Henry Okello Oryem, to discuss issues of bilateral engagement between the two Countries.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Minister of Presidential Affairs Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, said Ugandan Minister Okello Oryem conveyed a message of appreciation from President Museveni to President Kiir for his participation in the 60th anniversary of Uganda’s independence in Kampala last week.

On his part, Minister Okello Oryem said they discussed issues related to trade, infrastructure and development between the two Countries. He commended the cordial bilateral relations between South Sudan and Uganda.

Furthermore, VP Hussein briefs President Kiir on his recent participation in the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Vice President Hussein said he met with a number of Heads of State and Governments and discussed issues related to the political situation of South Sudan.

The Vice President added he had a meeting with the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on South Sudan’s relations with international organisations, issues of borders in South Sudan, especially the situation of Abyei, as well as the support of the international community to the extended transitional period.
