Road accident claims life of Motorist in Monze

A road traffic accident has claimed the life of a 39-year-old motorist  who is a resident of the Chileleko Compound of Monze District

Zambia: A road traffic accident has claimed the life of a 39-year-old motorist  who is a resident of the Chileleko Compound of Monze District. The victim has been identified as Costar Chiboot.

The victim was involved in a road accident in the early hours of Thursday. The Police officers have shared that the victim has succumbed to his injuries following the accident.

The victim was travelling along the Great North Road  when the accident happened at a location which was about 8 kilometres from Pemba town. The motorbike belonging the victim  hit a southbound Hino Ranger Truck.

The vehicle was being driven by James Manda. The 38 year old suspect has been identified as a resident of Kanyama Compound in Lusaka.

The police officers have confirmed that the deceased was driving a Honda HR vehicle heading north. He was travelling with a passenger on board  who has been identified as Heizey Kasongola. The 30 year old is also a resident of Monze.

The passenger  reported that she had sustained a painful right leg and swollen forehead. The second victim is currently admitted to Monze Mission Hospital.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka shared the details of the incident with the media. He highlighted that the accident happened when the driver of the Honda HR vehicle failed to keep to his near side lane.

The motorcycle accordingly ended up hitting the Hino Ranger truck and careered off of the road to the left side and overturned.

Daka states that due to the impact, the driver sustained a broken right arm as well as a deep cut on the right leg. He was taken to the hospital where he received treatment for some time. He   died after a short  stay in Monze Mission Hospital.

The police officers have expressed that they are concerned by the numbers of road traffic accidents that the administration is recording, The Commissioner of Police has urged motorists and road users to remain careful while driving.

The official also asked the people to continue to follow the traffic rules
