Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has shared the photographs of ‘The Warriors’ that they have clicked while planting some saplings. The team and its officials have taken out time from their preparations for the final match of the Malawi four nations tournament.
The tree saplings were planted in Lilongwe under the auspices of the Football Association of Malawi and the FIFA Forward Program.
Planting the saplings signified the unity and environmental commitment. While doing the plantation ‘The Warriors’ were represented by Coach Norman Mapeza, Captain Marshall Munetsi and FIFA Forward Manager Kudzai Chitima.
The officials present there joined with Kenya, Zambia and host Malawi to take advantage of an incredible opportunity to leverage the visibility and interest of the four nations tournament to shine the spotlight on environmental issues and make their contribution to a greener future for Malawi.
Currently, The Warriors are busy in preparations for the match to take on Kenya at Bingu Stadium in the finals of the Malawi Four Nations tournament.
The final will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the 3rd place playoff between Malawi and Zambia starting at 2:00 p.m.
The national football team of Zimbabwe is known as the ‘Warriors’. The team represents the country in men’s international football and is controlled by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), which was formerly known as the Football Association of Rhodesia.
The Warriors have never qualified for the FIFA World Cup finals, but they have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations five times.
Notably, Zimbabwe has also won the COSAFA CUP six times, and the team represents both FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Four Nations of Africa is an arranged joint football tournament with the associated teams of Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The four nations have agreed to hold the joint football tournaments, and the final will be on March 26, 2024, in Lilongwe, Malawi.
The Four Nations Tournament will feature the senior men’s national teams (A-teams). It was a valuable opportunity for the national teams.
The tournament was a platform for them to face quality opposition in preparation for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2025 AFCON qualifying campaigns.
