South Africa: Department of Sports, Arts and Culture is planning to organize Theatre and Dance Policy Consultative Conference, which is going to take place at the Market Theatre on Friday 02 September and Saturday 03 September 2022.
The Theatre and Dance Consultative Conference will provide the opportunity to present, Breathing New Vision into Theatre and Dance in South Africa, a National Theatre and Dance Policy, Second Draft, written with reference to the Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture (DSAC) White Paper on Arts, Culture and Heritage.
The Draft Policy expresses values and visions that aim to nurture theatre and dance, embracing and celebrating the diversity of theatre and dance forms in South Africa, with clear policy recommendations for the Theatre and Dance sectors.
Earlier this year, the Draft Policy Document was made public with a call for Public Submissions made by the Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa. The Submissions received have been reviewed and aligned with the Draft Policy.
The key objectives of the Theatre and Dance Policy Consultative Conference are to review the Draft Policy and Recommendations, assess its alignment with the National Development Policy Framework of 2020, and consider the sector’s Socio-Economic Impact Assessment Report to be presented at the conference.
The Theatre and Dance Policy Consultative Conference is an important contribution to the policy process and the implementation of policy recommendations. Breathing New Vision into Theatre and Dance in South Africa aims to breathe new energy into our sectors to build a healthy, more stable, and productive industry.
