Botswana: MYSC Tlokweng District Office hosted the National Arts Festival (NAF) Contemporary Music Competitions. The event is being hosted in a number of districts and cities across the nation.

In the Tlokweng District, the event held at the Bordergate Mall, wherethe members of the creative industry of the district were in attendance. The artists competed under the categories; Backtrack, Liveband (New Comer), and Liveband.

NAF competitions which are being hosted with the aim of nurturing talent of the country’s creatives. These events showcase innovation, originality, and propell careers of creatives in the country.

The competition is an annula tradition for the people of the country. The competition has evolved through the years, adapting to the ever-changing landscape of the music industry and technical advancements.

It also encourages composers and performers to push boundaries and explore new sonic territories.

The Tlokweng District Council Chairman Collen Mochotlhi delivered a brief address at the event. He highlighted that the NAF competitions are a gateway to many opportunities that give artists maximum exposure.

The event is hosted in various districts and communities of Botswana. The aim of the event is to highlight and promote the culture of these different communities.

He further expanded upon the theme of the National Arts Festivals, “the creative economy: Botswana’s economic future redefined”. He asserted that the theme falls in line with Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture’s mandate.

The ministry is dedicated towards of supporting the creative industry so that artists are able to participate in the international space. The ministry wants to allow them to advance and sell Botswana’s rich and diverse culture.

The competition was a great success as various artists and groups gave a thrilling performance.
