This No Women Coffee Shop is situated in Tunisia and is described as a rare experience by travellers. One of the travellers said that this is the rarest experience one would ever have. This Coffee shop has a rule that no women are allowed to enter the premises. It is only made to serve the males who can come up for a quick cup of coffee or snacks.

Though, the place has been made inaccessible to women, the reasoning for this rule is highly stereotypical. However, the cafe is one of Africa’s most popular places. Interestingly, while there is a place that is “exclusively for men” in this major country in Africa, the nation has not extended such courtesy to women. 

When one looks at the flip side, no cafes, resturants, bars or discotheques across Tunisia are designed to cater “exclusively to women.” Feminists and women’s rights activists across the world would term such a rule as openly discriminatory to a specific gender.

Tunisia, the most beautiful country, presents travellers with the opportunity to encounter the most unusual and exciting things. This No Women Coffee Shop is the most peculiar place in North Africa. Interestingly, the place is full of Patrons who visit the café regularly.

The Business owners have argued that Women are not illegal here. However, this goes against the experience of the locals, who say that Women are “socially” not expected to walk into the place or have a cup of coffee and relax. 

They argued that women not being allowed to enter is only applicable to the locals. However, if a female tourist or foreigner enters the place by mistake, they are given awkward looks and stares, making them uncomfortable while buying the things that they need.

This huge and incredible coffee shop also has no women’s toilet or other necessary arrangements made to accommodate female patrons. The Café only have one small bathroom, which is only for men.

Many travellers, however, recognised the place as one of the examples of a male-dominated society. Social media has also turned this rare place of business into a centre of debate. Some travellers also discussed this place’s unusual rules through the lens of male and female stereotypes. 

The business owners, however, argue that the place is not promoting or practicing any discrimination. The aim of the place is not to deny service to a specific gender but to provide men with a safe space.

However, As per many travellers, It is absolutely not forbidden for a woman to go into the cafe. They also added there is nothing interesting to eat or see in the café itself, which the women may miss out on. 

“There are so many restaurants, bars, hotels, shopping centres, nightclubs in the area.” Argued a previous traveller. “You can find and visit any of these places to show off on Instagram.” 

“Women have all the rights, nothing is forbidden to us compared to men.” Said another social media user.

While some Non-Tunisian have compared the café an Islamic thing. They believe this may be one of the places where women and men are not allowed to mingle as per Islamic religious beliefs.

Some other travellers also shared their experiences and expressed their points of view on these places. They shared, “My sister has been to places like this, and it’s not just stares that you get. They serve you rudely or don’t want to serve you at all.”

Some also call this a place to show the patriarchy around the world.

People also believed in Equality in pay and civil rights and expressed that cultural diversity should include separate spaces for men and women to relax and have time for themselves.
