Last month, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Rochelle Walensky declared the modified guidelines for the USA. These guidelines are just the set of instructions for the ones who have been vaccinated. The guidelines mentioned that there is no more requirement of masks for the ones who have fully got their vaccination done against Covid-19.

However, a few days back, WHO came up with its suggestions and recommended that all must wear the masks, no matter if they had been vaccinated or not. Dr. Mariangela Simao, the WHO assistant director-general mentioned, “People cannot feel safe just because they had the two doses. They still need to protect themselves.”

Later, Director Walensky, in order to clear the doubts, stated, “The fully vaccinated people are ‘safe’ from the current variants and do not need to wear masks, doubling down on CDC guidance as some others call for a return to masks.”

Thus, the Director of CDC made it clear that the guidelines modified will not be changed further. The health experts have also already clarified that these Covid-19 vaccines offer effective protection over all the variants of covid-19.

Walensky mentioned, “If you are vaccinated, you are safe from the variants that are circulating here in the United States. It was ‘exactly right’ that vaccinated people do not need to wear masks.”

Experts have already shared their concerns that few of the parts of the USA are still not completely safe and there can be chances that due to the low vaccination rates, masses can suffer from the delta variant.

Further, Walensky also stated, “We know that the WHO has to make guidelines and provide information to the world. Right now, we know as we look across the globe that less than 15 percent of people around the world have been vaccinated and many people of those have really only received one dose of a two-dose vaccine. There are places around the world that are surging.”
