Zambia: Chasefu District man commits suicide

Zambia: A 22-year-old man from Chasefu District in Eastern Province has committed suicide by taking quick force. The tablets are believed to be chemicals used for pest control. The incident happened on Monday. The family of the victim reported the unfortunate incident to the officials.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Limpo Liywalii shared the details of the incident and identified the deceased. The victim has been identified as Zakeyo Nguwo of Boyole Village in Senior Chief Magodi’s Chiefdom.

According to the Police Commanding Officer, Liywalii, they received a report at 13:30 hours. 51-year-old Robert Nguwo, who is the father of the victim and lives with him in the same house, called the police. He said that his son Zakeyo Nguwo had died after he took some quick force tablets in the morning.

Liywalii shared the brief facts of the incident and provided an update on the investigation. On the material day, around 08:00 hours, the deceased Zakeyo was left with friends at the market. At the time, his father had gone to work at Boyole Health Post.

He said the father of the deceased received a report around 08:30 hours while he was at work that his son had taken some quick force tablets. The victim was rushed to Boyole Health Post for treatment but died on the way.

Chasefu District Commanding officer Liywalii said Police officers carried out investigations on the matter and found that no foul play was involved in the death of the man. The family of the victim has also not expressed doubts about foul play, and the investigation will be closed.

Meanwhile, the officials nor the family have revealed a reason for the victim’s suicide

The body of the deceased has since been buried at Chivundu village burial site in Chasefu. The friends and acquaintances of the victim came out to extend their best wishes.
