The Initial batch consisted of 983 health centre kits. Out of this number, ZAMMSA has distributed 756 kits to all towns in North Western province. The Ministry clarified that Zambezi is not included in the list of recipients.

The Health Ministry has also distributed full kits, with compliant Erythromycin, to Mafinga, Nakonde, Lupososhi, Chembe, Luano, Lumezi and Luangwa.

The Ministry emphasized that the Erythromycin contained in the 756 health centre kits distributed in the above-stated areas are safe to use and were found compliant by the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA).

In addition, the Ministry has also distributed 4,644 health centre kits that don’t contain Erythromycin. These kits have 57 commodities instead of the initial 58. This is because they have isolated the non-compliant Erythromycin and quarantined it at the ZAMMSA central warehouse.

Further, the Zambia Health Ministry highlighted that North Western, Muchinga, Northern, Luapula, Lusaka, Eastern and Central provinces have received both kits that have Erythromycin and those without the component. So far, the Copperbelt is the only region that hasn’t received Health centre kits that contain Erythromycin.

ZAMMSA has not yet commenced distributing health centre kits to Southern and Western provinces. An allocation of 1600 kits has been set aside for these two regions. Western province will receive 708 kits, and Southern province will receive 892 kits, respectively. Distribution in these two regions will start today.
