South Africa: Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba has thanked all the medical and dental specialists volunteers and all healthcare workers who were supporting them as they volunteered their services during the week-long rural health matters campaign in the Vhembe District.
The Vhembe Rural Health Matters outreach program was a great success as they were able to conduct 273 operations commutatively in the space of 7 days under the following disciplines:
Orthopedics = 42 operations
Urogynaecology = 04
General Surgery = 32
ENT = 15
Paeds Surgery = 17
Plastic Surgery = 10
Ophthalmology Surgery = 40
Gynaecology Surgery = 33
Urology Surgery = 11
Maxillofacial Surgery = 15
Radiology Surgery = 52
Grand Total = 273
“We thank all the hospital managers in the Vhembe District who made this program possible. To all our volunteer specialists and all health care workers, we are grateful to see your commitment to improving the lives of our people. Your service is always appreciated. Together we can do more to change the lives of our people. We are happy to announce that the Orthopedics team will continue operating at Tshilidzini and Elim Hospital until Friday the 01st July 2022, and the final number of operations for Vhembe will increase from 273”, Said MEC Ramathuba.
The next stop of the rural health matters outreach program will be in the Sekhukhune District from the 25th of July 2022.
