Cape Town: The Festive Lights Switch On event to be observed on Sunday, Nov 30, 2025 with an opening Grand Parade. The flagship event of the City of Cape Town will bring together all Capetonians and visitors at one spot.
Reportedly, the city is preparing itself to host over 80,000 people for the free open-air concert to officially usher in the festive season. The city is happy to advise concertgoers, residents and motorists on logistics for the event.
The event will feature multi-award-winning music producer DJ Zinhle who will line-up the concert along with GoodLuck, Kurt Darren, Tarryn Lamb, Karabo Mogane, early B & Justin Vega, DJ Masoodah and Heavenly Quartez.
A well-choreographed tributary performance will be given by Emo Adamas, Loukmaan Adams, Alistair Izobell, Jody Abrahams and Fancy Galada with Street Stylers Dancers. This spectacular performance will celebrate the rich cultural legacy of Cape Town and its people by enduring spirit of hope.
All in whole it will be a six-hour event which will also include the official switch-on of the lights on Darling and Adderley Streets and video mapping projection on City Hall.
Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith said that the Festive Lights Switch-On is an event that scores of people across the city look forward to every year.
Smith said that with months of planning they made sure that everyone can enjoy the show in a safe, welcoming and well-organised environment. The teams have collaborated with service providers, working tirelessly across every detail from production and logistics to safety, security and transport management to ensure that they deliver an excellent show for around 80,000 residents and visitors who will join them for the evening.
According to the safety and security personnel of the City of Cape Town they will keep a close eye on the event from the ground, with some help from an eye in the sky. Smith stated that they are ready to respond swiftly and to ensure that the event runs smoothly from start to finish.
