Cape Town to host 2024 Bayhill Premier Cup tournament at Athlone Stadium

The teams will be traveling in from other provinces to represent the rest of the country and they look forward to see all there.

Cape Town: The City has started the countdown for the upcoming Bayhill Premier Cup Tournament 2024. The most awaited under-19 football tournament will see thirty-two clubs compete against each other, next month.

As per the sources, the 2024 Bayhill Premier Cup Tournament will commence from March 27, 2024 at Erica Park sports field in Belhar and will conclude with the finals on Monday, April 01, 2024 at the famous Athlone Stadium of South Africa.

During the official launch of the event, teams got to know who they will be facing against them in the divided groups, as they see an opportunity to lift the trophy.

As per the customs, the tournaments will have eight groups consisting of four teams each, with the top two in each group who will move on to the 16th round before the quarter finals, semi finals and later the final championship match.

Reportedly, it is the 35th edition of the Bayhill Premier Cup Tournament.

Considering the excitement in the people, the Tournament Director – Rayaan Alie said that their spectators and supporters can look out for 20-teams representative of the Western Cape this year and they also have a nice mix of the teams from Premier Soccer League (PSL) and First Division and also the teams from abroad.

He added that the teams will be traveling in from other provinces to represent the rest of the country and they look forward to see all there.

Moreover, the city’s Recreation and Parks Department continues to support the tournament by providing venues and services related to the event.

The Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Services and Health Councillor – Patricia Van der Ross said that the Bayhill Premier Cup tournament is a highlight on the domestic football calendar.

Councillor stated that it is the way how the event brings people together is incredibly special and the City Cape Town is proud to continue its association with the tournament.

Sports can literally change lives and afford young people opportunities they might not have thought would be possible.

“I have no doubt that there are future stars in the making who will be running onto the pitch this year and I encourage the communities to go out and support them,” said Patricia Van der Ross.

Notably, the tickets for the football tournament matches will be sold at the gate of the Erica Park and only 3,800 people can be provided with the seating at the venue.

Also, the tickets for the finals at Athlone Stadium will need to be pre-booked online as advertised by the Bayhill event organisers.
