Zambia: The Zambia Medicine and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) provided important supplies to the Copperbelt Province. Many places in the province are hard to reach making it difficult for authorities to provide adequate services to the people.
The Deputy Chief of Missions for the United States Embassy Linnisa Wahid, lauded ZAMMSA for their work. She revealed that the people of Zambia and the organisation are benefitting from collaborating with ZAMMSA.
Wahid claimed that “Working with third-party contractors in delivering commodities has so far proved effective in ensuring patients have access to the right Medicine on time.”
The Deputy Chief appreciated the organisation during her recent visit to the ZAMMSA Luanshya hub. She saw the team at ZAMMSA working and involved in every step of the process including:
• The transportation of medicine from the medical hub
• Loading of the supplies into the vehicle
• Off-loading and distribution of supplies to health facilities
Linda Wahid was impressed by the hardwork of the organization and the team involved in transportation and distribution of the medical supplies. She asserted that workers are hardworking and dedicated despite the challenges they may face.
Africa Global Logistics (AGL) is another organization which works with ZAMMSA to ensure swift and timely delivery of supplies. They also applauded the organization for their dedication to providing timely assistance to people in need.
The organization talked about the challenges that they face in delivering the supplies. Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Coordinator Towenji Manda said that while making deliveries, they face network challenges to transmit data on the E-pod.
She noted that as an alternative they use a manual way of documenting delivered commodities.
AGL works with the Zambia Medicine and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) and Program for Advancing Supply Chain Outcome (PASCO) to deliver medicines.
Currently, these organizations are playing an important role in helping the country in their fight against Malaria.
