Malawi: Minister of Lands, Deus Gumba, has announced that 10,000 houses have been constructed for vulnerable people across the country. The Ministry of Lands has been dedicated to providing homes to financially weak and vulnerable.
The Minister has confirmed that the efforts in this regard have been ongoing in several districts and communities. The Minster said that it is important for the people of the country to have access to homes and home ownership.
This ambitious project was announced for the first time by President Dr Lazarus Chakwera administration. The aim of the project is to make sure that the people of the country can have access to decent housing for those in need.
The Minster of Lands, Deus Gumba made the announcement with the media on Friday. The press briefing was done at Golden Peacock in Lilongwe. Gumba said the ministry had already constructed around 4,000 houses in all districts nationwide.
With the newly constructed houses, government has now constructed more than 14,000 houses in the country. The initiative is proof of the government’s dedication to making progress and development accessible.
Gumba emphasized that the government of Malawi is dedicated to building more houses in various districts across the country. The officials have shared that it the construction of houses will help in improving the standard of living of the people.
He highlighted that our of the total number of houses under construction, 67 are specifically designed for people with disabilities. Furthermore, 65 houses are constructed in refugee camps. This is being done to show government’s focus on inclusivity and support for marginalized communities.
The adminstration wants to see the nation progress in terms of standard of living, affordability and more. The construction of the houses will help make lives of the people in Malawi better
