Zambia: A 37-year-old man raped his 15 year old biological daughter and made her two months pregnant. The Police force of Namwala district revealed that they have arrested the suspect, identified as Hamaundu Mweemba.
He is a resident of the Belina Compound in Namwala district.
The officers have not revealed the identity of the victim. The officials shared that the started the investigation shortly after the neighbours came to the police and reported the incident.
The police officials confirmed that the defiling incidents had been happening for almost two years, starting sometime in 2022. The police force of Southern Province has shared that the victim is currently two months pregnant.
The suspect has been staying separately from his wife and with his daughter in a  one-roomed house since 2022. He was taking advantage of this living arrangement and defiling his daughter.
The instances had been happening for almost two years until last week Thursday when the neighbours intervened. The neighbours claimed that they were suspicious that something was wrong and alerted the police.
The police went and apprehended the suspect from his home after the neighbours reported the incident. They also talked to some of the neighbours who gave them the details of the living arrangement for the father and daughter.
The Public Relations officer noted that the suspect is in police custody. The 15 year old victim has also ben taken to the hospital to conduct a thorough examination.
Meanwhile, the members of the community have come forward to share their disappointment over the incident. They have expressed their anger on the action of the father and demanded strict consequences.
Further, some commentors stated that the mother should have taken her daughter along with her when she left the man to live separately.
The people even said that the suspect did not deserve to be called a father and suggested that he should be sterilized. The people of the community were visibly upset and hoped that the victim can recover from the shock.
