Mauritius: The Mauritius Shipping Corporation Ltd (MSCL) will relaunch the Passenger service for Mauritius to Rodrigues to Mauritius route on board the MV Trochetia as from 17 July 2023, announced the Managing Director of the MSCL, Dineshrao Babajee, yesterday, during a press conference held on board the MV Mauritius Trochetia.
The Chairperson of the MSCL, Dunputh Khoosye, Captain Mahendra Babooa, and Captain Daniel Nookia, were also present.
The MV Trochetia, he said, will make two trips per month to enable Mauritians and Rodrigues to take advantage of this service. He added that the ship has four room categories with a maximum capacity of 106 passengers.

He further said that an array of facilities is being put at the disposal of passengers during the trip, including breakfast, lunch, tea time, dinner, bar, entertainment, and medical and duty-free services.
The Managing Director stated that passengers will be able to stay overnight on the ship at an additional minimum cost instead of looking for a hotel or guest house to stay.
Another new measure being implemented is that passengers will benefit from free freight on food and agro products. He underlined this will help boost the activities of Small and Medium Enterprises while encouraging businesses.
Babajee further pointed out that the MSCL reviewed the quantity of luggage per passenger while highlighting that a passenger will be allowed to carry four pieces of luggage of 22 kg each.
The cabins proposed will be in the following categories:
- Tourist class at Rs 8,625 per adult
- First class at Rs 9,733.50 per adult
- Semi-deluxe class at Rs 11,896.50
- Deluxe class as from Rs 12,978
Tickets will be on sale as of Tuesday 04 July 2023.
