Mauritius: Mauritius is gearing up to host the ‘Vishwarang 2024’, an International Hindi Conference for three days. The officials have shared that the aim of the initiative was to further promote Hindi language and literature.
At the same time, the conference will help in promoting the Indian culture and arts, from 07 to 09 August 2024. This announcement was made on Tuesday by Youdhisteer Munbodh, during a press conference.
The press conference was held at the World Hindi Secretariat (WHS) in Phoenix. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology was one of the attendants of the press conference.
The Secretary General of the WHS, Dr Madhouree Ramdharee, the Chairman of Vishwarang, Santosh Choubey, and other stakeholders were also present.
Munbodh said that the inaugural edition of the Vishwarang was held in 2019 by the Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU). The event served as as a global platform that celebrates Indian literature, culture, art, music and cinema.
He highlighted that some 150 foreign delegates from around 20 countries, including Australia, Bahrain, Ghana, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, New Zealand, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tanzania et al, will participate in ‘Vishwarang 2024’ along with local delegates.
He also expressed hope that the promotion of Hindi language and literature, and Indian culture and arts, will reach new heights. The programme of three days should help in achieving the mandate that had been laid out.
Further, Choubey underlined the basic ideology of the conference which will focus on topics such as Hindi in migrant countries. The other focuses of the issue will include:
- Global consciousness of Hindi and literature
- Innovation in Hindi teaching
- Science writing in Hindi
- Critical perspective
- Diaspora literature.
It will likewise give an in-depth exposure on the linguistic, educational and cultural fronts of Hindi, he said.
The conference will be organised by the RNTU Bhopal India, in collaboration with the World Hindi Secretariat, the Mahatma Gandhi Institute, the Rabindranath Tagore Institute, the Hindi Speaking Union, the Hindi Pracharini Sabha and the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation.
It will comprise cultural and folkloric performances; lectures; exhibitions; song, poem recital, and reading competitions; launch of books; the unveiling of the statue of Rabindranath Tagore; and several academic sessions, amongst others.
