Botswana: Notwane Ward Development Committee has received a generous library donation from Lowapi Study Centre. The donation was made in collaboration with FNB Botswana on Monday in the presence of several officials from FNB.
The library space aims at providing a nurturing environment for children to foster creativity, imagination and a love for reading. The nation has been working hard to promote reading culture among the youngsters of the nation.
The Notwane Ward Development Committee extended their gratitude to FNB Botswana for their donation. Lowapi Study Centre Director Bonolo Boitshwarelo talked about the donation of the library for the students.
She said the idea of the library was to take education and learning to the people particularly the children. She stated that the colourful kids centre will be a place where a vast of activities around reading will take place.
She noted that it was also vital for Lowapi Study Centre to donate the library in order to nurture creativity. The officials have shared that learning and play of the community’s children as well as make them reduce screen time.
Atang Mbikiwa, FNB Botswana Head of Foundation also discussed the details of the donation. The goal of the collaboration with the Study Centre was because it was meant to serve a meaningful purpose.
She said this purpose allows for children to apply their reading vocabulary to their everyday lives. She added that a library is the safest place a child can be hence she motivated the community to take it upon themselves to be hands on in encouraging children to read.
She assured all that FNB staff will be residents of the Bala Kids Centre where they will assist with reading to the children.
Councillor for Notwane Ward Isaac Molefhe extended his gratitude in a brief address. He expressed his gratitude for Lowapi Study Centre and FNB Botswana.
He said such sign calls for everyone to be encouraged in being involved in every child’s education. He said his ward will be in contact with both parties for future collaborations in meaningful deeds.
