The government of Botswana has opened the Persons with Disability Capacity Building Mainstreaming Workshop

Botswana: The government of Botswana has opened the Persons with Disability Capacity Building Mainstreaming Workshop. The event was launched on Tuesday in Gaborone by the Acting Senior Manager Corporate Services, Tebogo Motlogelwa.

The officials have shared several images from the opening of the workshop initiative. The members of the organization have shared that they want to make sure that the people living with disabilities feel included.

The members of the community have appreciated the organization for their fforts to support the people living with disabilities. The Acting Senior Manager Corporate Services, Tebogo Motlogelwa reflected on the need for the workshop,

Motlogelwa explained that persons with disability are the nation’s economic development partners as well as drivers. “As the Ministry responsible for promoting and developing sustainable industries, trade and ensuring that disability issues are mainstreamed we need to promote and protect the rights and inclusions of person’s with disabilities,“ Motlogelwa urged.

The launch event for the Disability Capacity Building Mainstreaming Workshop was attended by several stakeholders. The person’s with Disability Coordinator Polly Lucas also spoke at the opening of the event. She highlighted that the aim of this workshop is to sensitize attendees about the disability act.

The people living with disabilities in Botswana will be educated about their rights and how these rights can be used for them to lead a fulfilled life without fear of discrimination and non-inclusion.

The government of Botswana wants to make sure that people living with disabilities can also have a part to play in the development of the country. The officials have shared that this will be a step towards more inclusiveness and acceptance in Botswana.

Further, the workshop will also serve as an interactive platform to share information on disability issues. In turn, this will help in adopting effective mainstreaming ways of the disability issues.

Polly Lucas explained that this workshop is also put in place to discuss progress on organizational mainstreaming initiatives with regard to the empowerment of persons with disability.

The two day workshop ends on Wednesday and some participants include MTI parastatals, departments, procurement unit and officials from the Ministry for State President.
