Zambia: Kalumbila Town Council has started the rehabilitation project of the four Kilometres Jiundu road in Mwembezhi ward. The road rehabilitation project is a part of the Solwezi West Constituency in the Solwezi District.

The people of the district had been asking the administration to work on that project for several months. According to the local populations of the constituency as the road had been in a dangerous situation.

The Kalumbila Town Council Chairperson, Shadrick Munjunga also confirmed that the road has been in a deplorable state. He added that the road project is being rehabilitated using the local authority’s locally generated funds.

Munjunga said the road’s poor condition has been challenging for students and teachers of the district. They are not able to access the school, especially during the rainy season at which time, the roads become unsafe for vehicles.

”The community has been complaining about the road network, and we have heard their concerns. We are working to address this issue,” Munjunga said.

Meanwhile, Munjunga said the council is utilizing resources generated from local companies and marketeers to fund the project. The people of the community are delighted to see the administration addressing the issue.

They are happy to note that the administration has prioritized the safety of the people and residents of the community.

He informed the people that in addition to Jiundu road, the council also plans to grade other roads in the area. The roads which will be rehabilitated in the future include Manyama, Kambazhi, Kamiba, Mangala, and Kalengele.

Meanwhile, Munjunga appealed to the community to be patient, assuring them that the council is committed to addressing the infrastructure challenges in the area.

Further, Jiwundu Boarding Secondary School Headteacher, John Dailofa, has expressed gratitude to the Government for the ongoing works, particularly the upgrading of the road leading to the school.

Dailofa noted that the improved road infrastructure will not only benefit the school but also the entire community, highlighting the positive impact on the local residents.
