St Kitts and Nevis: The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, expressed pride in the development of the healthcare sector of the country.
According to the PM, medical professionals completed 70 cataract surgeries in the JNF General Eye clinic. The various equipment for the cataract surgeries was brought into the country earlier this year.
Before the government procured this equipment, the people of St Kitts and Nevis could not get the treatment they needed. Often, they had to travel out of the country to get emergency cataract treatment. However, due to the government’s efforts, they can now get these treatments in the country itself.
Prime Minister Drew, who also handles the responsibility for the Ministry of Health, was extremely happy to deliver the statistics through his social media. He added that the government invested hundreds of dollars into the equipment. The aim of the government was to make sure that the eye surgeries can resume in the federation.
The treatments were paused due to the unavailability of the various equipment that is needed for the eye clinic. The medical team of St Kitts and Nevis has been dedicated to providing the best in-line facilities to the people. Thus, when the team realized that the eye clinic was not stocked with essential equipment, they started the process to procure that equipment.
The JNF hospital resumed eye surgeries at their clinic in May. At the time, it was celebrated as a major milestone in the healthcare capacity of the country. In his recent post, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew extended his best wishes to the various stakeholders of the country’s healthcare sector.
The Prime Minister thanked Dr Crespo, the nurses and all staff at the eye clinic for their hard work and dedication in serving the people of St Kitts and Nevis. In line with this, the people also shared their happiness on the achievement. Several social media users applauded the healthcare sector for the remarkable milestone.
Further, many people also thanked the prime minister for sharing this information with the rest of the country.
