KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, Phoenix: A suicide note was discovered in a vehicle next to the body of a Phoenix – KZN resident who committed suicide in Osindisweni – KZN.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 08:03 from a farmer after he made the discovery. Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched.
Officers met with the complainant on a gravel road. He led First Responders approximately 500 metres off road to an isolated location on a sugar cane farm. The body of a male was discovered hanging from a tree. His grey Renault Kiger was parked next to the tree.
A suicide note was penned on a receipt for the rope used in the suicide. It provided details of his spouse, including a contact number and address.
Reaction Officers made contact with his partner, who explained that he left home on Saturday and did not return. The receipt for the rope was dated for the same day.
The motive for the suicide has not been established. Moreover, residents of the area seemed in shock and said the mental stress is increasing in people, and this is not an issue that one can ignore.
