Zambia: The Ministry of Health in the government of Zambia says it has intensified efforts to combat maternal deaths. The maternal deaths and  infant deaths have been a major cause of concern for the healthcare stakeholders of the country.

It is important for the Ministry of Health to take concrete steps to ensure that the situation dos not continue persist

Northern Province Health Director, Ernest Mutale, said the ministry wants to ensure that every mother has access to quality healthcare. Professor Mutale officiated at a regional conference on quality improvement service delivery held in Mbala when he made these remarks.

The conference was heavily attended by participants from Northern, Muchinga, and Luapula Provinces. He said the conference will help to enhance service delivery and ultimately reduce maternal deaths.

Prof Mutale explained that the conference has agreed to come up with solutions to prevent maternal and child mortality. He added that the region wants to tackle the problem effectively In a single shot to ensure that it does not happen again.

Further, Bwembya Nkula, a Clinical Care Specialist from Luapula Province indicated that the conference has helped the region share best practices. Dr Nkula hoped that the lessons would help the ministry improve health care delivery for the patients.

Muchinga Province Clinical Care Specialist, Philip Munkonge, expressed satisfaction with the conference. The official has pointed out that the event offered valuable insights into best practices and innovative approaches to healthcare delivery.

The two-day conference was held under the theme ‘creating lasting solutions for better health outcomes.’
