Zimbabwe: ZIFA continues with the FIFA Member Association Referees Course which successfully continued to happen and concluded, last week. The Referee Courses by Zimbabwe Football Association began on April 10, 2024.
At the conclusion of FIFA Member Association Referees Course, Chairman of the ZIFA Normalisation Committee – Lincoln Mutasa applauded the referees for successfully completing the course.
The Chairman of ZIFA encouraged all to strive for a place on the FIFA panel of referees. The training sessions for the course were held in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The practical sessions were commenced by the FIFA technical instructors – Felix Tangawarima and the physical instructor Bento from Mozambique.
Reportedly, the organisers have hired ten female and twenty-five male referees officially from Zimbabwe. While, 14 official instructors were included on the FIFA International Panel.
ZIFA earlier refused to conduct any referee courses by FIFA. They also released an official note on April 08, 2024, and declared that the news was fake.
But later, the Zimbabwe Football Association announced the beginning of the training session on April 09, 2024. The FIFA Referee courses were mainly held by the ZIFA to minimize errors in officiating the matches.
The football association also made an announcement regarding the beginning of the referee courses on April 10, 2024, and indicated the technical instructor Felix Tangawarima and said that there will be another physical instructor, Bento from Mozambique, who will help in shape the course and will develop it as a game changer.
As per the reports by ZIFA, the match officials will be diving into theory and practical sessions. The association will also ensure that they are primed for the fast-changing world of sports, especially football.
ZIFA also shared snippets from the ground training sessions and posted a video of instructor Felix Tangawarima training the amateur players on its official social media handle.
ZIFA cleared that all communication regarding the FIFA Courses will be strictly conducted through the official channels.
They have also urged the public to disregard any statement that has not been issued through official ZIFA channels.
