Africa: Africa Weather Forecast launched its weekly summary (05 June – 11 June 2023); as per African weather reports, Fine and warm over most of the central parts but cloudy in the west midweek with light to moderate rainfall in the southwest, strong NW winds over the Cape interior and colder temperatures into the west and central parts.

Partly cloudy and cool in the southwest at first today but becoming fine later in the day; otherwise, there’s a high chance of bitterly cold mornings in the south and central interior followed by cool to warm daytime temperatures except for the northeast (Limpopo), where it will be hot today but warm on Tuesday.

Fine weather will persist throughout the country in the first part of the week until Wednesday, when there is a high chance of light rainfall in the far southwest near Cape Town within the first half of Wednesday, accumulating moderate amounts east of the Cape Fold mountains.

Strong winds associated with the cold front are anticipated during the day over the Cape interior, reaching 40km/h speeds over the southern Cape interior but moderate to fresh elsewhere over the central regions.

High chance of light rainfall in the western and southern regions but moderate to slightly intense in places in the far southwest (expanding into the south of the southwestern Cape Fold mountains) on Thursday as the cold front pushes east.

High chance of strong NW winds (30-40km/h) largely over the southern Cape interior but also in places over the central and eastern provinces. Medium chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms near Lesotho along the Free State/Lesotho and KwaZulu-Natal/Lesotho border.

The cold front and its upper air counterpart will move south on Friday, pushed by a high-pressure cell intruding in from the west; however, there is still a high chance of light rainfall over the southern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal leading to a low chance of high-impact thunderstorms over eastern KwaZulu-Natal on Friday.

Most of the central and eastern parts will have remained fine and warm, but hot in the northeast, particularly in Limpopo, the Lowveld and north-eastern KwaZulu-Natal.

Fine and cool to warm over the weekend with abundant clear skies and an approaching cold expected to make landfall on Sunday evening.
