Zambia: The authorities of the Kaputa District have taken up the construction of a classroom block at Chitaba Primary School. The construction work on the classroom block in the school is currently at an advanced stage.
The classroom blocks will help many students in attending classes and getting access to education opportunities. The authorities have shared that lack of space in the school premises is one of the most prominent issues faced by the students and management of the schools.
As such, the authorities take every opportunity to gather funds to construct more classrooms to make space for more students. The officials have shared that the work on the classroom block construction is in the advanced stages.
The authorities claimed that the work has reached wall plate level only the work of roofing and final touches is left for the construction to finish. Kaputa Town Council Public Relations Officer Stella Shonga shared the details of the construction.
She said that the authorities are constructing the school structures using the 2024 Constituency Development Funds. The construction will be completed with the cost of over K800, 000.
According to the Public Relations Officer Shonga said that the Maramos Contractors are responsible for the construction project. Further, the school Parents Teachers Committee Chairperson Reuben Musonda has also lauded the government for taking the project.
The organization has thanked the government for giving the people of Chitaba the opportunity to take on the project. The officials have shared that it is crucial for the community to have access to employment opportunities.
Musonda added that the people of Chitaba have been forced to use a thatched classroom block. As such the construction of the block will completely change the learning experience.
He has also urged the contractor to speed up the works immediately after the rainy season.
Further, Musonda appealed to the local authority to also work on the road leading to the school.
He said that the unavailability of access roads has also made things difficult for the residents.
