Botswana: Kweneng District Council has extended a helping hand to the Moruakgomo Junior School in Molepolole village. The district council donated P10 000.00 to the school under the “Adopt a School Programme” of Kweneng.
As per the district officers, the school had requested the council to assist to procuring a photocopying machine. The machine, according to the officials will help the school officials track student’s performance through tests.
The school will be able to conduct efficient testing and analysis of the students’ performances with the help of the machinery. The council chairman Allen Jacob handed over the donation sum to the Moruakgomo Junior School.
He stated that he is really impressed that the staff did not loose hope in finding assistance. He further encouraged them to keep on working together as this can help them emerge ideas beneficial to students and school reputation.
Further, the council Secretary Olebile Kgollo Mafala indicated that schools are important stakeholders for community development. She said that the schools help nourish growth in students who are also under the council’s custody.
The department claimed that they want to prioritize the needs of the schools. The District Council extended a helping hand to assist the school indicated that it had no photocopyping machine.
They were not able to print exam papers which are normally used to measure student’s performance. They further stated that investing in student’s education helps the government achieve pillar 2 of vision 2036 (Human &Social Development).
The Vision 2036 indicates that we should be an educated and informed nation. Mafala appreciated the staff’s efforts and further encouraged them to continue putting education first
The school principal, Galeitse appreciated the donation and expressed gratitude to the district Council for the heartfelt assistance. She indicated this donation will forever be cherished as it is one of its kind since the council normally assists in enhancing basic education.
According to the acting Chief Education officer Ledimo , the adopt a school strategy is operating and the government is trying by all means to see it bearing fruits
