Zambia: A man of Liyali in Lusaka, Bertinico Lifuna,  lost his life in an accident along with his 4-year-old daughter. The road traffic accident when a minibus hit the victims who were walking on the footpath.

The accident happened in the morning hours of Monday along Esther Lungu Road. The accident happened between the ZESCO Substation and Gondwe Compound. The accident happened when a south-bound Hiace Minibus attempted to overtake another vehicle improperly.

The police officers of Lusaka investigating the incident claimed that the Minibus was carrying 4 passengers and a conductor. The mini bus then hit Lifuna, who was walking off the road in the opposite lane while carrying his daughter.

The victim sustained several injuries as a result of the accident. He sustained a deep cut on the head and a fractured left leg.

Meanwhile, the victim’s daughter also sustained several fatal injuries, and lost her life to the injuries on the spot.

Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, has identified the bus driver as 34-year-old Musa Kandusa of Chawama. He revealed that the bus driver  also sustained a suspected pelvic fracture and general body pains.

The accident has also led some of the passengers to sustain injuries due to the accident. The condition of a passenger on the minibus, Godfrey Mukuma of John Leng Compound is critical. The victim has sustained a fractured left leg and head injuries,.

Another passenger, Alice Phiri, 45, of Misisi Compound sustained a swollen forehead, a deep cut on the right hand, bruises on the head, and general body pain. Meanwhile Steward Bwalya, 34, of Gondwe Compound, sustained a backache, neck ache and a painful left leg.

Meanwhile, James Musukuma, 20, of Gondwe Compound, sustained a painful right leg, painful hands and a bruised left foot, with the Conductor, Sunday Musukuma, 21, complaining of a painful left hand and general body pain.

Hamoonga says all the victims are receiving medical attention at Chawama Level One Hospital, further extending a condolence message to the family of the deceased persons, in addition to cautioning motorists to display extreme care on the road.
