Zambia: The Lusaka Based Non-Government Organization, World Vision Zambia, has recently constructed new classroom blocks in two schools of the Northern Province.
The aim of the construction was to give the schools more space to accommodate students and make learning easy.
The NGO constructed three classroom blocks at Bulambo Primary School. The school is situated in the Luwingu district of Northern Province.
World Vision Zambia Buyantanshi Area Development Program is also constructing another one-by-three classroom block at Mushishe Primary School. The aim of this new development is also to provide increased classroom space to the students.
As per the organisation, the cost of construction for the classroom block in the Luwingu district was over k230,000. The students and teachers at the organization are happy about the addition of the new infrastructure.
The new classroom block will help increase the capacity of the school, and more students will be able to learn. The aim of the new construction is to help the nonprivileged members of society get access to better opportunities.
Bulambo Primary School Head Teacher Chrispine Hamaluba talked about the new development in the school infrastructure. He revealed that the government is also constructing a teacher’s house using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
“This is what people expect from both government and non-governmental organizations to help the less privilege community,” He added.
Hamaluba noted that following the development, the school will increase pupil enrolment next year.
Mushishe Primary School has only a one-by-two classroom block, which has limited space for the learners. The Non government organization made the efforts to correct the situation by helping the school and constructing new spaces for children.
With the new developments in both the schools, they will be better equipped to handle and educate more youngsters. The NGO is working with the various provinces and districts of Zambia to give students from vulnerable families access to opportunities.
World Vision Zambia also donated 7,000 school bags and 400 bicycles to pupils in 37 schools of Namwala District, Southern Province. For this donation, World Vision collaborated with:
- Ministry of Education Zambia,
- Education Above All Foundation,
- Forum for African Women Educationalists in Zambia (FAWEZA)
The donation was made under the Empowering Vulnerable Children with Education (EVE) project.
